ESM receives e-mails and phone calls about new products all the time. Unfortunately, some parts and accessories just don't fit into the custom genre that well. Thankfully, most of the cool new gear we hear about does relate to our collective main interest, so you better believe we don't hesitate when it comes to following up on good solid product leads. One such new product that is making the rounds in the custom autmotive industry is the GoPro Motorsports Hero camera-- a wireless, self-contained, mini digital video camera system for in-car and all-over-the-car images.
This small digital camera is a perfect buy for the motorsport enthusiast. We were very impressed with the quality and how easy it is to use. Granted, the quality of the video or sound is not HD, but for the price ($179.99), it is an awesome camera. Not to mention the fact that it uses SD cards which are fairly inexpensive these days. We were skeptical at first that this tiny digital camera would be up to the task of filming quality video, but after a few runs at the Nashville Superspeedway, we were more than pleased with the results, especially since Steve "wildman" Carter proctored the test!
The GoPro Motorsports Hero is a true example of something big that comes in a small package. The wireless palm-size camera is capable of capturing 30 frames per second of TV-quality video/audio (NTSC or PAL playback), as well as 3-megapixel still photos. The Motorsports Hero camera isn't a part that will make your ride handle better, run faster, or look better, but we think this cool little camera makes it an accessory that should be in every custom ride, whether you run a quarter mile on a dragstrip or lay out some cool sparks on the highway with your mini-truck. |
